The salt is damaging the ecosystem, beginning to infiltrate ground water supply and has the potential to kill sensitive species, scientists warn.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>According to CVC testing, during winter months, when road salting happens, chloride levels in streams consistently exceed 5,000 milligrams per litre. \u201cIt\u2019s very, very high,\u201d said Amanjot Singh, a senior engineer with CVC. \u201cSome of the sensitive species will die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Great alternatives, are ECO friendly products like XYNYTH&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.xynyth.com\/products-tabs\/GNI\/groundworks-natural.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ground Works Natural&#x2122; Ice-melter<\/a> is safe on the environment and effectively melts ice down to -23C or -9F.
